The humble frisbee
The humble frisbee began its life as a cake-pan tossed back and forth on a Californian beach in 1938.
It was novel, portable and cheap; a simple innovation recognised by entrepreneur Fred Morrison.
So successful were frisbees among American universities in the 50s that students claimed they had no time left for rioting. It wasn’t long before they became a feature of streets, parks and beaches across the world.
In 2017, the frisbee’s value remains. Still costing less than a coffee, it has the power to activate our public spaces, bring friends and strangers together and add to the wellbeing of our cities.
Tell us in 25 words or less a simple innovation that has transformed your city and we'll send a frisbee your way.
